1. Data Controller

The data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, known in German as the DSGVO) is:

2. Collection of General Information When Visiting the Website

When you access our website, information is automatically collected by the web server (server log files). This includes:

  • IP address
  • Date and time of access
  • Page/file accessed
  • Amount of data transferred
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referrer URL

This data is technically necessary to deliver the website correctly and to ensure system security.

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device.

Analytics and tracking cookies are only set after you have given your explicit consent.

4. Language Detection and Language Preference Cookie

To automatically show you the language version of our website that matches you, on your first visit we determine, based on your IP address, the country you are accessing the site from, as well as the language setting transmitted by your browser.

  • Visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as visitors whose browser language is German, are automatically redirected to the German version.
  • All other visitors are redirected to the English version.

This country determination takes place exclusively locally on our own server, using a GeoIP database stored there (MaxMind GeoLite2, supplemented by DB-IP). Your IP address is not transmitted to third parties in this process; it is only processed briefly to determine the country and is not stored.

So that this detection does not happen again on every page visit, and so that a language version you have chosen manually is remembered, we set the technically necessary cookie wbn_lang_pref. It stores only the selected or detected language (de/en/es) and is valid for 12 months.

Since this cookie is technically required for a basic function of the website (displaying the correct language version), it is set independently of any consent given via the cookie banner.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and/or Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) (technically necessary).

This website uses GeoLite2 data from MaxMind, available at https://www.maxmind.com, as well as supplementary free IP geolocation data from DB-IP (https://db-ip.com, license: CC BY 4.0).

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC.

Google Analytics uses cookies that enable analysis of how the website is used. This may involve processing the following data, among others:

  • IP address (shortened/anonymized)
  • Usage behavior
  • Time spent on the site
  • Pages visited
  • Device type
  • Approximate location data

The data may be transferred to servers in the USA. We use IP anonymization.

6. SiteBehaviour

We use the tracking tool SiteBehaviour to analyze user behavior.

This may involve processing:

  • Page views
  • Click behavior
  • Scroll behavior
  • Technical device data

Processing takes place exclusively based on consent given via the cookie banner.

7. Rybbit

We use the analytics service Rybbit, which is embedded via JavaScript.

In particular, the following data may be collected:

  • Page views
  • Time spent on the site
  • Clicks
  • Technical information about the device used

Processing takes place exclusively based on consent given via the cookie banner.

8. Disclosure of Data

Personal data is disclosed only:

  • to technical service providers (e.g., hosting providers),
  • to analytics service providers as described above,
  • where there is a legal obligation to do so.

Data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR may be in place with external service providers.

9. Storage Period

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations.

10. Rights of Data Subjects

You have the right to:

  • Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
